This is my cousin Brooke. She is 9 years old and as you can see, she has Downs, but I’m so glad she does. I only get to see her about 3 or 4 times a year, but when I do, I spend every second I can with her. When I saw her on Christmas, I was careless, and my sleeve rose up my arm. Brooke saw my cuts. She asked me “Why you have so many booboo’s kessee?” I told her that sometimes, Kelsey feels sad and she feels like the booboo’s make the sadness go away, and I started to cry. My 9 year old cousin takes my arm and kisses it, then pats my head and says ” Don worry kessee, I get sad too sumtimes but God loves bootiful girls like us”. I know she will never understand what she did for me that day, and I can never repay her, but I love her more than anything. She gave me hope. And that’s something I haven’t had in a long time.
